What is Fellowship for Eight?
Fellowship for Eight (F•4•8) is an easy way to connect monthly with people in a relaxed, casual setting for four months beginning the 2nd week of September and continuing through mid-December. You and at least 7 other people – some you may know; others you may not; will get together to share a meal, play games, and just enjoy getting to know one another. This is a great way to get to know people who are older, younger, single or married outside the weekend experience.
FAQs About F•4•8
How does F•4•8 work?
Simply sign up at one of the campus sites or online at www.graceplace.org. If you prefer to be assigned to a group in your area you will be able to express that on the sign up. Once sign up has ended, you will then be placed with others to form a group. The host of that group will contact you about the first meeting. The group can be as creative as they choose in determining where they meet, when they meet, and what they want to do.
How are hosts selected?
You can sign up as a host on the sign-up sheet. In the event there are not enough hosts for the number of groups we have, individuals will be selected from the sign up sheets. Hosts are responsible for hosting the first meeting and for calling the others in the group to give directions and detail of that first meeting. They too will serve as a point person, as needed, for future get togethers.
Will there be separate F•4•8 groups for singles, couples, and families?
The purpose of F•4•8 is to mix everyone together; however, it depends on who signs up. If you wish to be in a specific type of group or be in a group with a particular person(s) there will be a place to indicate that on the sign up sheet. We will do our best to accommodate your request.
What about children?
The decision to include children will be determined by your group. Please indicate on the sign up if you are open to including children in the group.
What if I'm already in a small group?
No problem. You can do both if you so choose. Lots of folks choose to participate in both a F•4•8 group as well as a small group. This option provides opportunity to continue connecting and building relationships with new people.
Once a group is formed, can others become a part?
Yes, if you have friends, neighbors, etc. who hear about the group and they would like to join, by all means welcome them into the group. The reason for the eight in F•4•8 is to keep the group a manageable size. If your group determines they can accommodate more than eight, you have that option.
What happens when the four months are over?
You will be left with some choices. Your F•4•8 group may decide they want to continue as a small group or you may wish to join or start another small group. F•4•8 is just a way to get your feet wet in building relationships and connecting with people outside the weekend experience. Hopefully F•4•8 will serve as an encouragement to stay connected and continue to build relationships in a small group setting.
