2006 Annual Report

Dear Grace Place Family and Friends:

In 2006 Grace Place turned 10 years old.  It is inspiring to take a look back and see how God has led.  The theme of this report is 10 Years of Grace.  Grace Place has stayed committed to keeping the main thing the main thing.  The main thing is the gospel of grace in Christ Jesus.  The small group that founded Grace Place came from a denominational background that tended toward rules, ritual, and routine.  We have steadfastly determined to create a place of grace where a relationship with Jesus is what church is about.

This annual report contains a graph that shows how our attendance declined the first few years as we went through a denominational disconnect and had to do the hard work of hammering out our theological identity.  Once completed, there was a steady increase in attendance.  In fact, Grace Place hit several mile markers this year in addition to a 10-year anniversary, including over 1000 in average attendance and over $1 million in financial giving.  The highlight of the year was seeing 56 individuals celebrate new life in Christ through baptism.

Grace Place continued to expand by leasing and remodeling The Cabin as worship team offices, lounge, and recording studio.  In December of 2006 we were able to purchase our grade-school age ministry building known as “The Dugout.”  We are grateful to the owner who sold us the building for less than half of its appraised value.

Look through this report and realize that the church is all about people and lives being changed by the grace of God.  So much of the story cannot be told in this short report because it involves many individual lives that have been transformed in different ways.  There was hardly a dry eye at our tenth anniversary celebration when more than 40 people came on stage one-by-one and turned over signs that told of how God has changed their life through the ministry of Grace Place.  Selene and I consider it a privilege to serve you as leaders and are grateful to the staff, trustees, and ministry leaders who make up an incredible team.  A big thank you to every participant who gave time, talent, and treasure to God's work in 2006 through this church called Grace Place.  We love you!
